Don't accept anything less than Sky Protect

There are many companies offering you protection and repairs for your Sky equipment, many of them claiming to be Sky-affiliated. None of them are. Sky Protect is the only protection plan endorsed and trusted by Sky.

Sky Protect is a Domestic & General protection plan, developed in conjunction with Sky, specifically for Sky customers.

How are these companies able to contact Sky customers?

It's not illegal for these other providers to be able to offer you an extended warranty for your Sky equipment and it's your choice as a customer whether you take Sky Protect or one from another provider.

However, there are some things we would like you to know:

1. Sky Protect is the only protection plan endorsed by Sky.

2. We never provide your data to these companies.

3. If you do receive a call, you are within your rights to ask them how they obtained your details under Section 7(1) of the Data Protection Act.

4. It's against the law for them to state or imply that they are approved by Sky in order to sell you an extended warranty.

5. If you do receive a call and you're unsure if it's Sky, we'll always be able to tell you your personal Sky subscription number. (This is printed on your bank statement when a Sky payment is taken)

6. You can also register with the Telephone Preference Service and Mailing Preference Service to stop cold calls and direct mail through your door.

If you've been contacted by another company:

1. Complain directly to the company that contacted you.
2. Contact your local Trading Standards Office.

If you are concerned that you have bought a warranty from a company that's not associated with Sky, but were led to believe it was, please email the Sky Protect team. We'll then see if we can use the information to take any further action.

Calls cost up to 5p per minute plus a connection charge of up to 9p from a BT landline. Charges from other providers may vary.
