Remote Record with Sky.com (Sky+HD)

Once you've activated Remote Record (follow the steps outlined in our Activate Remote Record help guide if you haven't already done this), you can use any computer connected to the internet to set your Sky+HD box to record whatever you like.

1. Go to the online TV Guide.
2. Click on the programme you want to record to expand the listing.
3. You'll see a synopsis of the programme and some options, including Remote Record.
4. Click the Remote Record link, sign in with your Sky iD, and a message will appear confirming that your request has been sent to your Sky+HD box.

If the programme is just about to start, you may see a message saying, "Unfortunately your recording request may not reach your Sky+HD box in time." Although it's possible to successfully send a recording request right up until the programme starts, we recommend you make it at least 30 minutes beforehand, to give us plenty of time to deal with your request.

  1. Why am I seeing a white or blank Screen when accessing Sky.com TV guide?

It may help to clear your cache (saved history of websites). Please follow one of these links to help pages provided by Microsoft:

    In IE6: www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx.
    In IE7: www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/privacy/ieprivacy_pr7.mspx
We would also recommend setting the security and privacy settings in Internet Explorer to default.

You should also ensure that you have the latest version of Flash player installed – you can download this from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer (please bear in mind that you download any files from the internet at your own risk and that Sky is not responsible for the maintenance of external websites. If you require further help with Flash or Internet Explorer, try looking them up using your favourite search engine and finding information on the manufacturer's websites.

  2. I have a new Sky iD but cannot Remote Record through the TV Guide

If you have a new Sky.com username, and are still having issues with the TV guide, you should try creating a new primary username.
So that the new primary username does not conflict with the old one, we need to change a few details on your existing primary username.
    1. Log in to My Sky with your existing Sky.com Primary Username.
    2. Follow the Sky Services link.
    3. Find the Remote Record section and look for the Remove Service option.
    4. Select Confirm and Remote Record will be removed from this profile.
    5. Select Manage Profile, then View my Sky profile.
    6. Select Edit.
    7. Remove your mobile number and Submit the changes.

You are now ready to create a new primary username:
    1. From the Sky.com homepage select My Sky from the navigation banner.
    2. You will then be asked to log in with the existing primary username.
    3. Your My Sky page will then be shown.
    4. In the Manage Profile section select Manage Additional Users, then Add an additional user.
    5. Now select Set up an Additional User.
    6. Complete the details of the additional user, select Next when you're done.
    7. You will then be asked to enter a contact email address and to choose a secret question and answer.
    8. You cannot use the same email address associated with your original primary username.
    9. Read the terms and conditions and Submit your new information.
    10. A confirmation message will then be displayed.

Once you have completed this procedure the existing Primary Account will become a Secondary Account:
    1. Go to My Sky.
    2. Log in with your secondary username and password.
    3. In the Billing Centre, select Upgrade your account.
    4. Select I am the bill payer and should be the Primary user, then Next.
    5. Complete the About you section.
    6. Answer two of the questions listed – the Primary Account Holders Username is mandatory.
    7. You have now set up a new Primary Username.
